Low-code software for long-term business!
For 15 years now, EDEKA Minden-Hannover has been benefiting from digital process optimization that focuses on efficiency, transparency, and speed.
The challenge: a growing number of suppliers, complex HR and administrative processes, and the need for secure and smooth data exchange with the central EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg.
Thanks to the Virtimo Digitalization Suite, manual processes are being reduced, workflows automated, and seamless collaboration is made possible.
From paper-based processes to digital efficiency.
As early as 2010, we collaborated with EDEKA Minden-Hannover IT-Service GmbH on introducing an innovative supplier portal to simplify master data management and accelerate data exchange. The result: enormous savings of time and cost, lower error rates, and a significant reduction in the workload for employees.
But the requirements continued to grow. Over time, the goal for the IT-Service GmbH division as an internal service provider was to integrate new digital solutions and make collaboration more efficient, both within EDEKA Minden-Hannover IT-Service GmbH and with EDEKA’s central headquarters.

Initially, we used INUBIT to enrich data from the central master data system. It soon became clear that further integration solutions were necessary to connect various applications and optimize internal data exchange. EDEKA Minden-Hannover was very satisfied with the initial results, which increased the demand for further process optimization and integration, leading us to expand the system together.

Smart data flows with tangible effects.
Today, a unified digital platform ensures that administrative processes such as employee on- and offboarding, data provisioning for the retail portal, and the management of means of transport run significantly faster and without errors.
At the same time, the teams benefit from an intuitive, user-friendly solution that ensures central data is available at all times and simplifies exchange of information.
Automated workflows accelerate processes and prevent bottlenecks. Time-consuming coordination processes are eliminated, which noticeably increases productivity.

We now process very large volumes of data via a generic interface that we have developed together. This has allowed us to reduce processing time from an entire weekend to just 30 minutes – a huge increase in efficiency.

KRITIS means safety first!
For EDEKA, as a company in the CI [critical infrastructure] sector, security is a factor of enormous importance. That’s why release management, compatibility, and IT security are consistently in the focus of the closely integrated and continuously evolving data platform.
Today, all components of the Virtimo Digitalization Suite are in use: at its core, INUBIT as the business process engine, complemented by BPC as the frontend component and VIMON for monitoring system processes.
Prospectively, the use of a high-performance active/active cluster with two nodes will further enhance the systems’ stability, performance, and reliability.

As part of the special application support we provide for EDEKA Minden-Hannover, my job is to continuously apply updates, actively monitor the systems, and identify and proactively resolve potential errors or problems at an early stage.

Future-proof flexibility and short time to market.
The data platform doesn’t just offer advantages today; it’s also designed for the future. EDEKA Minden-Hannover benefits from an infrastructure that can flexibly adapt to growing demands. New processes can be implemented quickly, which allows for a short time to market for innovations.
The smart digitalization strategies that we realize together with EDEKA Minden-Hannover do not only improve existing processes but create an agile, future-proof foundation that secures the company’s long-term success.
“I am convinced that INUBIT will become even more prominent in the future as more departments learn about it. We already see the ‘aha moment’ in conversations about it now,” concludes Oliver Döding, Group Lead of Business Process Management at EDEKA Minden-Hannover.

INUBIT helps us meet the demands placed on us as an IT department and achieve a short time to market. Modern IT today must deliver solutions quickly – whether it’s for business benefits or legal requirements.
