Bosch Bytes Athens: Why digital transformation is more than just technology.

“Shifting Perspectives” – this was the motto of last week’s Bosch Bytes Athens, the international digital conference organized by Bosch Software and Digital Solutions. The focus was on topics such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, sustainability and leadership in the digital transformation. In keeping with the theme, we also changed our perspective – by following the invitation to Athens.
The occasion was a presentation by our CEO Dirk Breitkreuz, who argued that “the truth lies in the code”. This insight ties in with Plato’s philosophy: True reality does not exist in the physical world, but in an ideal, unchanging world of forms. However, code alone does not create a perfect reality – it only arises in the interaction between software and the real world. Only when software interacts meaningfully and creates added value does it develop its full potential.
This idea can also be applied to the scope of digital transformation: It does not occur in isolation, but when governments, citizens, companies and devices interact with each other. Digital administrative processes, e-government and smart cities on the one hand, the digitalization of everyday life and the acceptance of new technologies on the other, as well as digital business models, automation and IoT devices together form the basis for true digitalization.
The presentation emphasized that digital transformation means much more than technological innovation – it requires the ability to continuously adapt. The biggest challenge of the future lies not only in the development of technologies, but above all in a flexible mindset of people who understand and develop them.
Bosch Bytes Athens has shown how important it is to challenge perspectives and break new ground in the digital world. Many thanks to Bosch Software and Digital Solutions for the invitation and all the inspiration! ✌️
