Work & Travel 2019

What is it like to work in France? What does it mean to dine like the French? And would the country’s unique flair make a French accent appear in a conference call with our clients?

We wanted to know more. In late May, we packed up our laptops, phones, a little bit of wi-fi and our projects, got on a plane and traveled to France. Destination: an old estate in the region of Occitania.

For one week we moved into our château, switched out our modern desks for antique escritoires or bistro tables and plunged right into work on the projects. In our beloved know-how-sessions we compared notes on current topics and ideas and used our time together to build knowledge in both adjoining and entirely new topic areas.

To get to know the region, clear our minds and spend time with colleagues, a number of activities lent themselves to after-work enjoyment.

Some took on the challenge of wild water rafting, others hiked the Pech de Bugarach or hung out on the high ropes course. The World Heritage Site Carcassonne did not only present a very special backdrop, it also taught us a lesson in history.

Conclusion: Working from France works just fine. The food is excellent. As for the accent… 😉

All in all, the Virtimo team spent a well-balanced work week that equally satisfied the thirst for knowledge and the hunger for activity.
