The German Federal Office for Information Security [BSI] is calling for a complete realignment of market communications in order to ensure the continued information security and sustainability of the energy market. Time is pressing – all market partners must implement the new requirements within two years! Virtimo AG, a long-standing IT partner of the energy industry, publishes a preliminary study as a white paper and expands the range of services of the Virtimo Communication Service [VICOS] to include the new requirements.

The German gas supply is a sensitive and important topic. Even in crisis situations, a regulated and fair gas supply must be guaranteed for vulnerable customer groups, such as household customers. For this purpose, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action [BMWK], the German Federal Network Agency [BNetzA] and Trading Hub Europe [THE] are developing a Security Platform Gas [SiPla]. Virtimo is involved in the security platform as a project partner: We deliver fast and custom-fit solutions to digitize the procedures of data retrieval and thus lay the foundation for SiPla.

Faster, more modern, more powerful: Virtimo is developing a high-performance and future-proof platform to ensure security of supply in the European electricity network. New functions, significantly increased performance, especially when processing large amounts of data, as well as a modern UI are at the centre of customer requirements for the new timetable management system.

For the VIRTIMO VISIONS 2022, we have found a very special location in the EUREF Campus in Berlin: EUREF stands for the “European Energy Forum” and pursues the idea of a model quarter for the climate-neutral, resource-saving and intelligent city of tomorrow. The site combines modern architecture with historic clinker and brick buildings of the former Schöneberg gasworks, thus shaping the special character of the urban quarter.

How can Fake News and desinformation campaigns be recognized and combatted? Researchers of the University Duisburg Essen are analysing this question with the new research project PREVENT. Virtimo supports PREVENT as a project partner and is participating in the implementation of a trainings software that aims to sensitize staff of safety institutions when dealing with Fake News.
